Manage Your Direct Mail Creative

First, make sure you have direct mail enabled under Account>Integrated Marketing Options More on Accounts.

Once enabled, a Creative tab will populate in your account. From there, you can add, edit, and manage your creatives.

Note that on this page, you will be able to see which creatives are in draft, which are active, and which campaigns the active creatives are tied to.

Add a Direct Mail Creative

To add a direct mail creative, head to Creatives>Direct Mail and click the Add a Direct Mail Creative button.

Creative Type. Select 4x6 or 6x9 postcard from the dropdown.

Creative Name. Give your direct mail creative a name.

Creative Design. Select whether you would like to Upload a PDF, use our creative builder, or upload HTML.

Click Add.

Note that once you have finished your direct mail design, you must review the proof and approve the design before it will be available to select in your direct mail campaign.

Upload a PDF

If you selected Upload a PDF, upload your file within the following parameters:

  • 4x6 Postcard. PDF creatives must be submitted as a PDF file with two pages in the PDF file - one for the front of the post card (page 1) and one for the back (page 2). The front of the post card is free form. Both sides of the card must have a 0.25 inch bleed on all sides. The final PDF page size must be 6.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall. The back of the post card has specific layout restrictions.

  • 6x9 Postcard. All creatives must be submitted as a PDF file with two pages in the PDF file - one for the front of the post card (page 1) and one for the back (page 2). The front of the post card is free form. Both sides of the card must have a 0.25 inch bleed on all sides. The final PDF page size must be 9.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall. The back of the post card has specific layout restrictions. Please use the image below for guidance in creating the layout for the back of the post card.

Once the file has been uploaded, click Add.

Use our Creative Builder

If you selected Use Our Creative Builder, click Add and another dialog will walk you through building the creative.

Upload HTML

If you selected Upload HTML, there will be two boxes that will populate.

One where you'll be able to paste your HTML-Front (the front of your postcard design) and another for HTML- Back (the back of your postcard design.

Unlike PDF creatives, HTML creatives allow for dynamic injection of variables into the creative. HTML creatives also do not require advanced graphics editors and can be created using a simple text editor.

With HTML creatives, you will need to create two separate HTML pages: one for the front of the post card and one for the back of the post card.

HTML Templates:

When HTML creatives are used, all variables are merged into a PDF document and distributed to mail houses in PDF format for mailing.

It is important to note that all images and resources in your HTML file must be hosted on an always-available CDN, such as Amazon S3, as creative generation happens in real time and all resources must be available at all times.

If you need assistance on hosting images or other resources, please contact LeadPost Support.

Once your HTML has been updated in the Front and Back text boxes, Click Add.
